Another Man's Treasure

In a recent role, we were touring the production floor of a manufacturing facility. As we were receiving a description of the machine, the operator and the end-product for a new program launch we would soon be transporting for finish work. The process revealed that five units would be produced in each production run, the two best conditioned units (of the five produced) would be shipped and the remaining three products by procedure, are scrapped immediately.

Front-end effort that never has a chance to reach an end-user, is simple waste. Multiply the opportunities that can never materialize, change the process.

Experience

There Are No Interruptions, Only Mismanaged Inputs

If 2020 doesn't feel different than any other year, check yourself...

How we may be performing our jobs in six months, may not be a concept today. This is a clear message and I am fortunate to have navigated through adversity before. Corporate consolidations occur daily in various industrial sectors. When a business consolidation or a full-fledged closure occurs, it can adversely impact industry. Faced with the possibility of the disruption that an overnight removal of capacity can create, I directed an exploration and mitigation program to identify critical acceptable limits, by category and by client. Our goal was to isolate segments of activity that required special or immediate attention, triaging by priority level and tracking progress until project closure.

Education

The Student Becomes The Teacher
I have always been a competitive individual. From the age of twelve, I played the game of golf and am fortunate to have benefitted from the relationships that it has produced. I played competitively in High School, won individual and team championships in college and had the honor of opening a new facility as a Professional, before leaving the industry. A casual round of golf, preceded by many hours on a lesson-tee in Kansas City with a former student, forged my entry to the Supply Chain Industry,

Following that round of golf, I received a phone call and an invitation for an employment conversation. I declined the job offer, shortly after the original meeting. They called again...
